Maritza Ruiz-Kim

Maritza Ruiz-Kim is an interdisciplinary artist who received her fine art degree in New Genres from the San Francisco Art Institute. She began showing her work in 2008 and has since exhibited nationally in New York, Miami, Santa Fe, and San Francisco. Most recently, her fine artwork has been included in the group exhibitions Race in America (Pool Art Center, Drury University, Missouri), Crisis Mode (Orange County Center for Contemporary Art, California), and We the People (Artist Alliance, online). She has also begun publishing comics online with MUTHA Magazine. She has a multi-faceted connection to the deserts of the Southwest: from Las Cruces, New Mexico, down to Coahuila in Mexico, then northwest to the Mojave Desert of Southern California. Her favorite memories of places she has been include having found calm places to sit and read. She now lives in the Diablo Region of the San Francisco Bay Area with her husband, her mom, two sons, and two smoosh faced dogs that follow her everywhere.
