When I was twenty-one, I was living in a studio apartment with my partner in Seattle. I had no friends since I was new to the city and found myself eating up all the books I could get my hands on to fill the hours. I started writing during this time, trying to mimic the surreal styles of Palahniuk, the grittiness of Bukowski, and the wit and humor of Douglas Adams. While the stuff I was writing back then wasn’t good by any means, it sparked a love that I haven’t been able to let go of since.
I’m an undergrad student at Portland State University where I am double majoring in English and Creative Writing. Rising from a high school dropout to part-time community college, to a full-time Honors university student, my goal is to complete my MFA to become a college writing instructor. My writing studies at Portland State are focused primarily on fiction prose. Whether it be poetry, fiction, or music, self-expression has always kept me moving forward.
While the foreseeable future is dedicated to school, I’m always working on new music for my metal project Herem; camping, reading, and exploring with my life partner; and writing for online news journals.
