Brandyce Ingram

Brandyce Ingram is a writer and jazz-head in Austin, Texas. Her work has appeared in The Esthetic Apostle, The Austin Chronicle, Sand Hills Literary Magazine, OxMag, Unlimited Literature, The Write Launch, and elsewhere. Many of her poems address themes of identity, deities, consciousness, and the loss of all three. She is currently working on a compilation entitled “Not Quite Nihilism.” Her favorite word at the moment is “loganamnosis” and she thinks Lisa Simpson should be president.

Brandyce has a talent for staring at objects and scenery for long periods of time while breathing. Sometimes she pretends to be from a foreign country or planet. She is no stranger to engaging in social experiments in the form of performance art for the sake of unveiling layers of the human condition. She is neither bonkers nor sane. She wants you to question everything and laugh at any answer that comes along. Only then can we be free from our minds’ (often despotic) eye.

Some of her favorite poets are Attila József, Andrea Gibson, Poe, Sylvia Plath, and Christian Bök.

Two truths and a lie:

  • Brandyce collects Japanese plates.
  • Ten-year-old Brandyce told Tommy Lee Jones he was a butthead for killing people (in movies).
  • Her favorite shoes are held together by tongue rings instead of laces.
