Michelle Spiziri is a Baltimore Maryland based artist. She is a painter who uses a mix of different wet and dry mediums and has recently started exploring ceramic sculpture. Michelle creates artwork that excites, evokes emotions, and challenges the viewer. Many times while hiking or biking, she is struck by an impromptu phrase, word, song lyric, or memory that sparks an idea for a new painting. Time in the studio is dedicated to contemplation, researching, and pushing the limits of visual expression. Michelle graduated from Maryland Institute College of Art. She has been painting for over 30 years. Her style has evolved over that time and includes diverse techniques and genres. Her work is often likened to German expressionism; she would describe her art in any genre as “Emotionalism”.
Intertwined within her creative journey, her life has taken many directions to include teaching art education, group fitness, sales and marketing in Corporate America, and finally creating, running, and growing her own successful venture in Home Wellness as a Lifestyle Management Guru all which have influenced her art. Michelle is now dedicating full time to painting and ceramic sculpture.
Michelle displays her paintings in many galleries throughout Maryland and has won multiple Jurors Choice awards.
