“Culture is a reflection of history, art is the light that enters it, artists are the prism that give it dimension and scope.”
Born in Queens N.Y., Tony is a self-taught artist whose work has been in over 75 National and Regional juried art shows and exhibits. He is also the founder and creator of the “Artistic Merit Award” which has made its way around the world honoring over 56 artists. His eclectic works involve various media such as sculptography (a new genre of work that combines sculpture and photography), scratchboard, painting, videography, sculpture, and photography. His works are preceded with the title and then he begins the process of creating that vision. Tony likes to give the impression he is a self-centered, narcissistic, eccentric, artsy type but in reality he’s just a regular guy who loves creating art.
Tony tends toward realism in his scratchboard and photographic work but his sculpture is predominantly representational abstraction. He believes that no work can be interpreted without first knowing the artist at a personal level. He will never ask the viewer “What do you think it means?” simply because each work has a specific meaning which gives visual context to the title and is not open to broad interpretation. His goal is that the viewer takes a moment and explores the deeper meaning of what is being illustrated.
