Kurtis Ebeling

Kurtis Ebeling graduated from Eastern Washington University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literary Studies (Magna Cum Laude), and he is currently working on his MA in English. He intends to pursue a career in teaching literature, but also has a great deal of interest in publishing creative works, poetry in particular. He has previously been published in Northwest Boulevard Magazine, Transcend Magazine, and at eris & eros.

Kurtis is a Spokane based writer (having moved to Spokane, Washington from Southern California his freshman year of high school), musician, student, and line cook. His primary interests, growing up, were in music and literature. Poetry, beautifully blending each, became his focus while pursuing his bachelors, and he has yet to look back. Some of the poets and writers who have inspired much of his work include: William Carlos Williams, Marianne Moore, William Butler Yeats, H.D., Herman Melville, and the translated works of Basho.

Kurtis is also responsible for the creation of a couple digital humanities projects, which, while lacking polish, were a great deal of fun creating. The first is a project in prose, taking the disjointed memories of a fictional character, Jaykub Rooney, and asking the reader to engage each memory without concern for linearity. The second is an archival poetry project, taking quotes from articles of The Easterner, relating to protest, and turning them into poetry. You can find those projects at https://kurtisebeling24.wixsite.com/collectedmemoriesofj, and https://kurtisebeling24.wixsite.com/pop-easterner.
