Nick Graham

Nick J. Graham is an emerging fiction writer working on his first collection of short stories. His work has been published in La Piccioletta Barca and So It Goes: The Kurt Vonnegut Museum and Library Literary Journal. Currently, he teaches writing at Manhattanville College and Post University. Graham lives close to the shore of southern Connecticut, where he can be seen retreating into the woods to hike and play disc golf between waves of student emails.

His stories tend to focus on characters that are navigating or investigating some kind of unknown while watching their truths either crack or shatter after they are thrown against a wall of experience. This rings true in “Roll for Initiative”, which explores the themes of change and preconceived notions of progress. The story invites readers to consider every characters’ perspectives and then consider their own viewpoint.

In real life, Graham continues to play Dungeons and Dragons with the same group of friends for more than a decade, leading their campaigns without a single temper tantrum. Well, maybe with minimal temper tantrums. He hopes to continue writing in an MFA program in the near future and writing novels as well as short stories.
